It is a first film in which Jurek Owsiak – the creator of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity – talks honestly about how the idea to establish the Orchestra came up, and what the difficult beginnings looked like. He also recalls the whole history of 30 years of the Great Orchestra without avoiding such hard topics as brutal hate he faced, or the death of the president of Gdańsk – Paweł Adamowicz, after which Jurek resigned temporarily.

The documentary about the creator of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity shows his change – from a carefree hippie to the leader of the great civic movement, and one of the most important symbols of free Poland. He tells the story behind moving the idea of Woodstock Festival to Poland which became one the biggest music festivals in Europe.

In this film, music is as important as images, since it accompanies the protagonists during key events in their lives and helps them to come to terms with their emotions.

Polish author Zbigniew Herbert is one of the most remarkable poets of the 20th century. His works have been translated into 40 languages, acclaimed and awarded around the world, mainly because of its timeless and universal dimension. In Poland, his significance is even greater, as Herbert was a moral guide in his native country. His poetry was of great importance during the fight against communism. Many Poles learned his poems by heart and remember them up to this day. However, behind the crystalline beauty of his poetry, there is a man struggling with everyday life. His story told by his wife, Katarzyna, and people who were close to him unveils a picture of a unique, yet complex artist. A model of intelligence, humor and charm, on the one hand, Herbert has been struggling with anger, physical pain and mental illness, on the other.

This movie presents the story of Dariusz Popiela, a Polish athlete who refuses to let the Nazis’ goal of erasing Jews from history come to fruition. Together with a group of similarly-minded young people, he leads restoration projects in old, forgotten Jewish cemeteries. By recovering old matzevot, Popiela brings back the memory of victims of the Shoah. Each name recovered from the stones helps to show victims as individual people instead of a nameless group. The film is a story about reading – from matzevot, documents, the memories of neighbors – the history of Poland before and during WWII. Young people from Krościenko, Grybów, Czarny Dunajec and many other places in Poland shed the light of memory on the names of individual people.

On New Year’s Eve 1999, an armed man enters a TV studio during a broadcast, takes the host hostage and makes one demand: to give a message live on air.

The narrative follows Yiling Li, a Chinese woman who has recently moved to London and lives with her stoic and detached cousin. Struggling to settle in and wanting to find some stability, Yiling Li eventually finds a job at a real estate agency. She overhears a phone call regarding a large monetary exchange for the opportunity to visit a serial killer’s old flat at night. With mounting financial pressures Yiling Li decides to steal the keys in order to rent the flat out hourly to the eager patrons. As we see this side business grow, Yiling Li falls deeper into the world of misfits. She latches onto the connection she feels for them, intrigued by their vulnerability that stems from their twisted fantasies. She eventually begins to relish her nightly persona, realizing that sometimes the darkest environments breed the most authentic connections.

Mikolaj jumps on a train captivated by a beautiful woman. He hopes to convince her that they are made for each other. On the way to happiness he finds himself with no ticket, and tickets are sacred for the crude conductor Mr. Nowak.

Mary is just some lonely, small town grocery store worker, living a life free from sin. Struggling with menopause, she visits her doctor, who prescribes a course of hormone replacement therapy. On the eve of her 50th birthday, Mary’s life begins to take a totally unexpected turn: it is freaking magical. As she starts to feel things differently, she begins to live more extravagantly. On top of this, her young, vivacious niece keeps showing up at her doorstep and affects Mary’s sexual awakening. But there’s something much darker bubbling beneath the surface. Meanwhile, a holy presence in Mary’s home appears to silently judge her, which deepens the hero’s uncertainty. This religious anxiety threatens to suppress her newfound lust for life. Mary must act if she is to keep the wickedness at bay.

The film title refers to the initials used by Father Adam Boniecki to sign his articles in “Tygodnik Powszechny”. This weekly is the only place where he can publish after a ban was imposed on him by the Catholic Church leaders. Since then the priest has been even more active participating in over 200 meetings with his readers every year. The film is an intimate portrait of a man on the road. It shows a priest, aged 85, who can always find time for a meaningful conversation and, simultaneously, remains torn between his faith and concern about the condition of the contemporary Church, in particular in Poland.

A crime comedy – insane pacing, clear-cut protagonists, and sharp, witty dialogue. Three elderly gentlemen rob a bank. Perfectly prepared, armed to the teeth, and with masks covering their faces, they enter the bank under camera surveillance and break into the safe vault underground. When the police arrive at the crime scene, they’re surprised to discover that nothing is missing. Or is it? Thus cross the paths of the three elderly men, a young hacker and a police computer specialist. Then there’s the beautiful girl. The remaining question is, what is waiting for them at the end of their adventure: prize or prison?

The halny wind is the most unpredictable element in the Polish mountains. It comes in cycles, in every spring and autumn. One never knows if or when it turns into a destructive gale. Halny particularly affects the inhabitants of Zakopane and its area, changing picturesque mountain trails into a set for an untamed performance of nature.

In his documentary, Stanisław Berbeka revives the memory of his father, Maciej Berbeka. Thanks to the accounts of expedition participants, the reminiscences of his family members and archival recordings (film and sound), we can gain a better insight into the way of thinking of this eminent Polish mountaineer and traveller. Among the stories about the family, the values embraced by Berbeka and the most important expeditions, there is one related to the winter expedition to Broad Peak. On 5 March 2013, the protagonist reached the summit, making his dream come true, but and died on his way down to the base.

Nothing in this film is the way it had happened; this nonoccurrence is intentional. Creating scores of situations which had never taken place is a thoroughly considered action – or if not thoroughly, then at least considered, in any case. To what end? So that, having seen the events which hadn’t taken place, you could draw your own conclusions about the events which had, in essence letting all of you – the audience – become Real Detectives. While ”Kobro / Strzemiński” is a debate with biographism as a way of perceiving art, it also points out that biographism is inescapable. The filmmakers ask: what’s left of avant-garde strategies today? They examine an avant-garde project that didn’t survive its confrontation with real life – but they also appreciate the value of avant-garde attitudes of overcoming obstacles in life and letting your imagination roam beyond what others see as an impassable horizon.

Rwanda boasts pristine wilderness and perfect natural conditions for the coffee growing. Coffee has been present there since the colonial times. Nowadays, “The Black Gold” plays a significant role in Rwandan developing economy and the sector employs more than 400.000 people. However, coffee contribution to the nation is more profound than mere state finances enhancement. Rwanda is still healing wounds after 1994 genocide drama, which left more than 1 million Tutsis killed and the nation torn apart. Can coffee become a reconciliation tool between survivors and perpetrators and help in re branding Rwanda international image? Film takes viewers for an adventure to this tiny African country and following specialty coffee production stages, we meet people who dedicated their lives to the coffee: farmers, exporters, quality cuppers, roasters and others.

“Camouflage” is a story about difficult art of talking with our closest and dearest. Weronika – sensitive teenager and her mother Krystyna – widow after a professional soldier can’t talk to each other. It all changes when one day Weronika locks mother in the room that used to belong to her husband. Now she has to confront both: daughter and the past. Withe the power of words said through closed doors they manage to talk openly for the first time. Mother – daughter argument slowly develops into a conversation about remembering and letting go, about the Father. When Weronika finally opens the door they mange to reconnect, ready to find a common way of moving on together.

At 70, Bogdan has nothing but a 51-year-old Wartburg, winner of the competition for the Ugliest Car of Poland in 2015, and no one but his 94-year-old mother Kazimiera, whom he takes travelling in his Wartburg all around Poland, whenever he can. He would like to go on another trip with his mother, perhaps her last, to the place where little Kazia was forced to work during the war. Mother and son hit the road. The film received the Złoty Lajkonik (Golden Hobby-Horse) Prize at the 57th Kraków Film Festival.

After quitting their corporate jobs, Bartek and Rafal decided to create their first video game. The movie follows them throughout the last few months of working on the project. The film describes the life of Zygmunt Lubicz-Zaleski, an extraordinary Polish patriot and man of letters, who left Poland and 1910 to settle down in France. Forced to escape from repressions he encountered in his homeland riven by the partitioning powers, Lubicz-Zaleski in but a few months not only became successfully integrated not only with the elites of the large Polish community in Paris but also made friends with the eminent figures of the French world of literature, politics, and the academia.

A young German of Polish origin sets forth in the footsteps of his grandfather: a wartime hero, soldier of the clandestine Home Army (AK). He is taken to Radzimów, a small village where the Polish, Czech, and German borders meet. The peaceful and modest life of locals conceals a horrible secret, whose traces, discovered with an increasing involvement of the young European, lead far eastwards, to Hanachov, no longer extant on the administrative map of Ukraine…

There had been no such place on the map of Poland until the first true music club was set up in Warsaw’s district of Wola in 1992. Graced by performances of the whole constellation of greatest contemporary Polish stars, it was the fulfilment of dreams of young people who had no money or other assets and yet managed to create a cult location at the scale of not only to Warsaw but the whole country. The history of Fugazi became a mirror reflecting the convoluted history of Poland of the early 1990s.

A philosophic road movie. The road leads the hero and his artistic pursuits from the East (Siberia) to the West of Europe (Berlin). A Kraków painter, his unconventional paintings, and equally unconventional street art exhibitions are a pretext to tell an important story of artistic pursuits of identity. They are a reflection over the world and the human, and an observation of the history of the world. The artist says he thinks the Western way but feels the Eastern way, and so stands riven between the East and the West: himself, and his paintings with him.

Promoting the Szlachetna Paczka campaign, the spot shows that many Polish families quietly but relentlessly fight for survival. It encourages helping but not for pity’s sake, but to support people in their grappling with the vicissitudes of life.
